Unable to get Quick access to work.

I have an Acer laptop (AMD Ryzen 3 3200U/8gb RAM) with Windows 10 Home 64bit version 1909.
    Original build of 2020-01-08 18363.592
Current build after updates is 18363.657.

I am unable to activate Quick access since the original installation of 2020-01-08. Did everything recommended everywhere but nothing helped. Quick access is above the folder list on the left but it's dead in the water. Also looked for a tutorial but haven't found anything relevant. Can someone point me to correct the error of Windows ways?

    Hi, you could try this:

Reset and Clear Recent Items and Frequent Places in Windows 10

(Listed in Quick Access tutorials in the 'Related Tutorials' section present in most tutorials)

dalchina, thanks for the reply, unfortunately it did nothing even with a reboot. I am willing to do anything as I have a mirror backup.

    Hello ineuw,

Just to verify, do you have recent items and frequent places turned on?

Turn On or Off Recent Items and Frequent Places in Windows 10

If so, then I suppose post a screenshot showing your Quick Access in the navigation pane of File Explorer to see if anything may stand out.

It's very difficult to type a detailed reply on a cellphone. So please accept my thanks for the help given. Since my last post, other features degraded and I had no choice but reinstall from the beginning. Will post when everything is working.

You might want to start using disk imaging routinely so as to avoid a clean install where you have disk images created before the problem arose. Macrium reflect (free-paid).

    You mention other
    features degraded
    I recommend you check your disk(s) e.g.
HDTune free 2.55, Health and Error scan tabs; Crystal Diskinfo (no scan option); Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - best instant analysis.

"Degraded" was just a nice way to put it. I installed CrystalDiskInfo to check S.M.A.R.T. and the drives are fine except a drive which has Linux data on it.

@dulchina and contributors, although I did a new install, the issue can be caused and resolved by using Ultimate Windows Tuner for Windows 10.

An oversight can ruin a whole night and the following day
Thanks to all for your kind help.
