    Search Results

    When I search my Documents directory, I often get results from .css, .js etc when really all I want are folders, .html, .pdf

    How to I stop the .css, .js files appearing in the search results?

    I know I can apply filters afterwards but having to do so when all I want to do is a quick search, is a pain and not always reliable (filtering by type:folder gives me .zip!!)

    Is there an easy way to do this automatically?

    'folder' is a Kind, not a Type: Kind:=folder

    The search you describe would be:
    Code:
    Extension:=(.pdf OR .txt) OR kind:=folder
    Once you have a working search, you can save it, Locate it in your Searches folder (Shell:Searches) and create a shortcut for easy access.

    You're welcome. Did that fit the bill for your needs?

    I just discovered something pretty nifty that ( a brief ) Google search didn't come up with.

    As manyt know, you can create custom Toolbars from any folder via:
    Taskbar:Rigth-click>Toolbars>New Toolbar...

    & slelecting a folder from the dialog.

    If you ad the Searches folder found in your UserProfile folder ( this is where searches are saved), You'll have a cascading toolbar of dynamic folders --- the serch will be run whenever you access the folder.

    Nifty,don't you think?

    Weird. As you can see from my screenshot, itworks for me ( call me old-fashioned, but I like to test code before posting & recommending ). I'm still on 1903 becasue of all the isssues folks are having with Search in 1909. What version are you on?

    Also, on a stand-aline system (WIndows Home) with all local searches that refer to accessible locations. All things that might factor in...

    Do all your saved searches execute without error?
