    new pagefile.sys

Suddenly, I have a 36gb pagefile.sys on my secondary drive.
I remove it by setting no page file at SystemPropertiesPerformance.exe

If I set paging back to automatic, it appears again, 36gb, after a restart.

But is this new pagefile.sys it because of a recent windows update ?

Is it ok if I don't use a pagefile ?

Setting it to Automatic will use all/any available drives for paging files. Turn off Automatic, then you can individually set each drive to System Managed, Custom size, or No paging file.

No, it has always worked this way.

Depends, how much RAM do you have? At 32GB you may hardly ever need a page file, at 4GB you may run into problems of insufficient memory. It also depends on what apps you run (and how many at the same time). It's probably not a good idea to run without a page file if you are a gamer, some games need a lot of memory.

I'm sorry, but it MUST be related to a recent Windows update.
My C drive is as empty as when new.
Windows keeps putting the 36gb pagesize in my d drive.

    This is new.
Using as much as 36gb for a page file is new, and it's after a new update.

I manually set the page size to 10-11 gb for the c drive, and none for d drive.

As Bree asked, how much RAM do you have? I have 16GB and have mine set to automatic:

    I have 16 gb RAM.

After recent update, Windows starts to look at secondary disk for pagefile.

So I now disable automatic paging. And set automatic only for C drive.

I wonder if Storage Spaces figures into this somehow? No idea how, just speculating. I don't use it so it's disabled for me.
