    Windows Explorer Search disabled?


    Version 1909 (18363.592)

    I opened my Documents folder to find a file. Tried to click into the Search entry field and I couldn't?!

    Any clues what could cause this? Is there a way to get this back

    This is the widely reported 1909 file explorer bug introduced by our dear friends MS.

    Try Google search
    file explorer search broken 1909.

    Threads discussing this on tenforums. I reverted to 1903 by uninstalling the enablement package (looks like a Windows update).

So I've gotten fed up enough with the terrible windows search system. I went into services.msc and disabled the windows search service; then restarted my computer. However, "Cortana" is still listed in my task manager taking up 50mb of memory....
What I'd like to find is a way to have a searchbox on the Taskbar that launches Windows Search, not the new Windows search. I'm pretty sure it's just a different GUID or namespace. This will do for now though. From the SevenForums (SF) Tutorial...
