    frozen laptop cursor

    windows 10, 1809

left my laptop for 5 minutes last night, came back to find i couldn't move my cursor with the touchpad (could with my wireless mouse)

the left click function was working at first but seemed not to after one of my restarts

tried fn + F9 (which worked once before if memory serves) f9 alone, removed my touchpad driver (but not the option to remove software as well) restarted, but to no avail

finally restored to an automatic checkpoint which fixed the issue

can someone tell me what the problem may've been and if there's something I should try next time in the event I experience it again

    thanks as always

I would run an SFC now to see if there's a problem we don't know about.

Ran sfc /scannow and some corrupted files couldn't be repaired. Ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth then sfc /scannow again and all corrupted files were repaired.

Not sure if any corrupted files were the cause of my cursor freeze but at least I fixed some files.

I'm a little OCD on SFC. EVERY cumulative update on four PCs in my house. One is a Mini PC that does a rather slow SFC. I don't care. I do this and Defender full scans. I run Malwarebytes and Adware now and again.

If experience is a teacher -- I'll bet you box of donuts your cursor problem is whoopie-gonzo.
