Windows 10 Compatibility for HP DV6?

I am hearing stories that say win 10 is not compatible with HP Pavillion dv6-2066dx AMD processor.

Do you have some links you can share to back this up?

I would say create an image backup of your current drive using Macrium Reflect to an external hard drive then try it. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I've installed Win 10 on several different HP Pavilion dv6 laptops with no problems at all other than the video running hot which is a design flaw in some of the older dv6 systems.

I have had several Hp Laptops and desktops as well as Acers, Gateway's, and Asus which I have upgraded.
HP's seem to me as being the most compatible of the lot with fewest problems and failed updates.

I am even running a Virtual Machine win 10 beta on a dual core Apple computer with 4 gigs
of memory and no problems , I have several 32 bit and 64 bit machines.

One relatively easy trial you could run - and which gives you a very useful tool- is to create a Win 10 live boot disk, boot your PC from that (no change to your Windows installation) and see what happens.

As Microsoft stopped Win 7 updates, I am thinking of getting to win 10

Note that antivirus products are likely to remain compatible with and updated for Win 7 for at least 2 years. There's no real necessity to upgrade. Your PC might die in that timescale...

Impossible to say given no information- and you are best advised to check the relevant site for those programs for compatibility information.

As a generality- many programs including older ones- do run perfectly well on Win 10. The registry structure and usage is essentially the same. Some you may have to update. Some may not.

- depends what you mean. Every major build introduces changes, so in that sense it's evolving. Some build have introduced significant bugs. The most reliable build in general at present is 1903; in 1909 MS attempted changes to file explorer search and made a mess of it.
