    How to search

    Hi everyone
I've very recently changed from Windows 7 to 10 and seem to have lost the ability to search for a word in a document / spreadsheet etc.
In 7 I used to be able to enter a key word and it would bring up all the documents / spreadsheets that contained that word anywhere. Now, it seems that I can only search for a word that's in the title, which is a problem when a) I can't remember what I called it and b) I can't remember where I saved it.

Hopefully someone will be able to tell me how to do this.
    Fingers Crossed !!!

File explorer search in Windows 10 has, up until now, been the same as Windows explorer search in Windows 7.

However, Windows 10 Version 1909 has serious problems with File explorer search. Perhaps MS will fix it.

In the meantime, you could use a third-party utility instead.
    - I use NirSoft's SearchMyFiles
    - Another forum user recommended UltraSearch - JAM Software but I have not looked into it yet.

I have Windows 10 Home, Version 1909, OS build 18363.592 and do not seem to have this problem. I can enter a word I want that is within a document and the resulting list of documents appears. It is different from earlier Windows in that there is an arrow to be clicked to the right of the search window to bring up the list of results after entering the word I am looking for. So apparently it does work ok for some users?

    See KB4535996 CU Win 10 v1903 build 18362.693 and v1909 build 18363.693
    and its MS original https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4535996

You have to read both the v1909 & v1903 bits to see all the identified issues that the update addresses. They include
    - Addresses an issue that prevents the Windows Search box from rendering fully in the space allotted for it.
    - Addresses an issue that might prevent the Windows Search box from showing results.
