Your D: is just a data drive. The O/S sees it as data. All you need do, for example, is create shortcuts to it on any desktop display you choose - exactly as you do to anything on C:
One O/S on your PC- as many drives as you like- and as many virtual desktops as you like that you can flick between.

Ok, the tutorial I posted in #9 tells you how.. but like everything, it's a matter of becoming familiar with it. Can seem disconcerting at first. Avoid the temptation to keep creating more...!
I researched how to create virtual desktops using the task view and clicking add new desktop; however I would like to create a blank new desktop and the new desktop I add has all of the icons and folders that appear on my main desktop. Is there a way to create a blank one? Also unfamiliar with how to get to your #9?

I guess I am a hopeless moron - I seem to be only able to create a new desktop that is identical to my main desktop. I have even tried unchecking Show Icons on the main desktop 1 and adding a new desktop 2 based on that blank main desktop but when I go back to desktop 2 all of the icons and folders of desktop 1 are there on desktop 2?
What am I doing wrong!
The newly created virtual desktop will be a copy of the initial one- at least that's what happens for me.
If you like, start with no or few icons on the desktop and no programs launched.
You can see how many you have by pressing Win + tab - they are shown at the top of the screen.
(But I find this unreliable - sometimes responds, sometimes not)
To switch between them,
1. Press the Win+Ctrl+Left Arrow (previous) or Win+Ctrl+Right Arrow (next) keys to switch to the previous or next virtual desktop.

It is a good idea to place a file named Desktop 1 on the first, Desktop 2 on the second etc. Then you know which is in use.
Thanks dalchina - OK if I understand the process each added desktop will be a copy of the original or main desktop (Drive C). Would it then be possible to create a second desktop - say Desktop 2 and once created see if there is a way to either hide or remove the folders and icons to then create a blank desktop 2? Still trying to find a way to place the icons and folders of my Drive D on the blank virtual desktop?
