    How to configure that my eMMC as boot disk and HDD for storage


    Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.592)
    I got a connex laptop from my friend as a gift. I installed WIN 10 on the 32GB eMMC Flash Micro SD card expansion which is obvious not enough space. I'd only +- 9 Gb of space left. Also, the laptop is fitted with a 500Gb HDD. Some software is fine as I just delete the C and replace with D (didn't check it yet, but I guess it will work.

    How can I configure that software being installed on D drive (the HDD) and not on the eMMC which is my C drive (boot drive). I hope that there is an easy way.

    I would have installed Windows on the HDD. 32Gb is going to give you big problems in terms of how many programs and which you can install, and bigger ones with respect to Windows Update.

    Other than portable programs you can't somehow insist that installed programs reside totally on another disk or partition. Many create folders and take space in several places on C:

    Hi Dalchina, thank you for your prompt response. Reason why I done that is at first I skipped the eMMC and installed the Windows on the HDD, but then it was very....and I mean very slow. Then I done a fresh install after I format it. With this, Win on eMMC it works smoother and faster. Problem is I stay in Namibia (Africa) and hardware is not so easy to find like ex 64 or 128Gb eMMC. I can ordered from South Africa, expensive too !! I'm a pensioner and my finance is not so comfortable.

    A couple of tips to help save eMMC space:

    Turn of hibernation, in a Command Prompt (Admin) run:
    powercfg -h off

    Compress the OS, again in a Command Prompt (Admin) run:
    compact /compactos:always

    And make sure you put all personal data as far as possible on the HDD - you can simply define your own folders there rather than relocating the default library folders, or be extremely careful, creating a disk image beforehand, and try relocating them.

    Note you can specify many downloaded programs to be installed to D: say where the option is offered, but this only means one folder related to the program is placed there. There's also this:
