Notification Area hidden icons border size gets bigger randomly

Using Windows 10, sometimes when I click the UP arrow to view the rest of the notifications on the lower right side of the screen, I see that the notification icons (that are not visible on the task bar) have very big borders. The only way to fix this is the sign off and on again. Does anyone know what causes this and how to prevent it?

It just happened again after playing a game.

Can you snag a few screenshots to post?

I will next time it happens. I just tried to duplicate it by launching the same game again but it did not happen.

BTW the borders do not become visible. There just is a large invisible border around all of the icons as if they are tiled wider when it happens.

Here is a screenshot of the problem. The invisible borders of icons inside the hidden notification are huge after turning on the computer.

This is related to a scaling bug.

I.e. operating out of default 100% Scale. The easiest way to fix the issue is to switch your scale to 100%. If you are operating at 100% resolution, you can switch the scale in display settings to 100% if you are already at 100% switch to another scale than back.

Change DPI Scaling Level for Displays in Windows 10
