I have all the authorities set up but still got this error. Then I realised that I was getting "You don't have permission" error only with certain programmes.
I traced the shortcuts back to the original program, right clicked to get Properties and then went to compatibility and clicked "Open as Administrator - and presto - no more problem. Can it be that simple?

Luigi, please create your own thread so that other users can cater specific instructions regarding YOUR issue. You can continue to monitor this thread if you like however, if you want help for your specific scenario please create your own thread be specific in places you can and you cannot make changes.

If you want Microsoft to fix it they will tell you format all your HDD, wipe off all your data and reinstall windows. Which will take care of any software issues.
Guys.. I got this fixed. I downloaded the file Windows10Upgrade9194.exe to D: drive. When I ran it I got an error static cannot write to the drive. I knew it was referring to C: drive. I went to C: drive to find a newly created folder with the name "Windows 10". I simply double clicked the folder and it threw me permissions error and I changed the permissions of the folder to write content. Vola.. I'm able to upgrade to Windows 10 now. Hope that helps.

Do you think that would work for my External Drive ? I have one computer that is using Windows 10 and one on Windows 7 and both show the same thing when I access my external drive excel sheets and try to save changes or additions

    Folder access

I've just installed Windows 10. Now I find I am unable to save documents. A pop up window says contact the administrator for permission. It is a private pc and I am the main user and administrator. I've seen lots of posts on other forums for exactly the same problem and several suggested fixes that don't work.

    Anyone suggestions?
This is a process but it worked for me:
You can follow these steps for one folder or go here to make sure your folder is shared with Everyone
1.Right click on the folder that you can't access and click share with >specific people
    2. Click add and then enter Everyone for a user name
    3. Click read permissions where it says read to read/write
    4. Click share, click done

    1. Right click properties on the folder you can't access
    2. Click advanced.
    3. Click change owner
    4. Type Everyone for the owner and select owner reset to full control.
    5. close properties
    6. Then click on the save file box and choose the default folder you want to save to in the open dialog box.
With a new owner with full control of everything and sharing it should work if you followed this completely. Worked for me.

Hi. I'm facing the same problem but make it possible currently. Well while troubleshooting with myself i was thinking since when the problem started then I noticed the problem started since from i have been logged in my laptop with the Microsoft account. So I just went to users and logged out from the Microsoft account and again logged in as normal admin user. And problem solved it never asked me again with some message like this. Well I'm not the techies or computer knowledge guy but it worked for me. I googled the error but no one was with the solution so temporarily i made it out myself. The problem is with microsoft account.

    Thanks and Regards.

    Nilesh.
