Any compatible 1809 iso or bootable disk can be used: Make sure you log in normally first, then run setup.exe from the mounted iso or bootable installation disk.
Having a current disk image is strongly recommended before any major change.

Basically there should be no need to hack the O/S.
It should normally be hidden - and as it's hidden, it's hidden so people don't get stressed about it.
Only if something isn't working and it gets too large when it shouldn't be (note from the descriptions I gave you that it can legitmately be large at certain times) would there be a need to intervene.
Well I did the repair as suggested at 3pm my time. It installed and everything but now I'm at the working on Updates screen and for the past 20mins it has been at 86 percent. Should I worry. It is on an SSD.
Glad you got it fixed. I find the simplest way to resolve these issues is to boot into Ubuntu and delete from there. I remember a friend who had all his pictures on one laptop, no backup. The laptop got infected and wouldn't boot. He brought it to several stores and the answer was the same, you're SOL, you will need to reformat. The guy was going nuts, all his kids pictures since birth. I booted the drive in linux, copied all his pictures to external drives and restored the laptop.

You have to patient with Windows. At work I've seen the system chug for what seems hours and then the screen messages "Unable to update, removing files" or something to that effect
