i want to move some folders and files, some of the folders contain applications, how do i do this and have the registry account for these moves? way back in the day there was a free program called folder mover or the like which, when you used it to move folders or files, would update the registry accordingly if needed without creating symbolic links, it worked perfectly, but i can no longer find it....
Hi, you should uninstall and reinstall programs to achieve that. Bear in mind that programs, when installed, may well create folders elsewhere than the primary install path that can be much larger than the installation folder.
yes, reinstalling is always an option, was hoping to avoid....

does a great job, searching the registry (regedit) confirms that paths were updated and programs run as they did before the move, great way to tidy up things without having to reinstall and reconfigure applications to how you had them before (when config files fail).... that said, i'm not sure i'd use it (or anything else) for major applications, would probably just reinstall those....
