Delete all the partition which are already created and make it as unallocated space.

Hi Freebooter, thanks for the advice, I already did this. Used Computer Management on my laptop to delete any partitions and reformat in NTFS, still getting the same error code.

Yeah, I'm getting this across multiple hard drives, plugged into different SATA ports, all formatted and without partitions.

I ran chkdsk in command prompt it reported finding errors. When I tried to run repair or fix I got the following message:

'The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.
Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected'

Did you go into the bios and select default bios setup and save to see what happens?

I have disabled secure boot, and dismantled everything down to one stick of RAM, one HDD, and booted. This time I have SUCCEEDED in installing a fresh windows. I'm after reinstalling the RAM and graphics card and so far, so good. No idea what's going on or why it's worked for me though

Thanks for all your suggestions and time, I really appreciate it. I have a fresh installation going now and all seems to be fine, so fingers crossed I've dodged a bullet on this one.
