I clicked something by mistake --now I can't get laptop out of tablet mode -- settings I've tried don't seem to work.

    Hello Jimbo,

You might see if you may have a hardware switch or key on the keyboard that toggles tablet mode on and off. This will override the settings in Windows 10.

In addition, check to see if one of the options in the tutorial below may work for you.

@jimbo45, are you sure it's actually in tablet mode?

'Settings > Personalisation > Start > Use Start full screen' looks almost identical to tablet mode.

I do that every so often too. So far, I've been lucky, but one of these days . . .

Why couldn't you just go to
Settings, System, Tablet mode, 'When I sign in' and set it to 'Use desktop mode'?
Then you could have just logged out-in or rebooted to get back to normal mode.

Check your computer's support site. Some OEMs apparently** provide facilities to switch to Tablet mode so that's what you might have triggered.
** Use your PC like a tablet - MSSupport

I'm in a similar boat. Yesterday a dialog appeared for a second telling me that I had activated auto-rotate. But nothing has changed in Settings, System, Display.
