    Graphics file extensions have changed to uppercase

    Hi,
    for some reason a lot of my photos have changed from lowercase to uppercase extensions for example .jpg to .JPG and from .dng to .DNG.
    Also most of my raw files are not displaying thumbnails now.
    If I click them they will open in their associated programs
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    @Iroding, Welcome to TenForums!

    Having uppercase vs lowercase file extensions should make no difference at all since Windows does not care about case, however, if it bothers you, there is a simple way to change this.

    1) Open a command prompt.
    2) Change directories to the folder with the files whose extensions you want to change
    3) Issue a command such as the following. This example will change all files with an uppercase .JPG extension to lowercase .jpg:

    rename *.JPG *.jpg

    As for the raw files not displaying thumbnails, I'm not too certain about that issue. Has anything that you know of related to image handling changed? I know that typically in order to display raw images a plugin to handle the images for a particular camera is often needed, but since you can display the images I'm guessing you already have that installed.

    After a little more research, I found others who reported the same issue with RAW image thumbnails not displaying. For them, the solution was to go to the web site of the camera manufacturer to download a codec for their raw image format.
