How to keep OneDrive from taking over

I have just used a debloater script that uninstalled One Drive from my computer and in Win. 10 in the absence of One Drive, how would i prevent it from becoming the preferred way i save my documents or files or pics. or anything else that it seemed to store automatically? Because my take is, it may be reverted back to obtaining the One drive automatically if i don't choose where to save my files, if this makes any clarity (at all)? IN other words, I thought that I had it uninstalled before and it suddenly had reappeared and I'm trying to learn this part of the software so bear with, but it's a little confusing.

    Enable or Disable OneDrive Integration
    This disables/enables Onedrive.
More linked tutorials shown in the Related Tutorials section.

There are two versions of Onedrive software - one from Store, one you can download and install (not a UWP app).

Thanks i uninstalled or disabled One Drive but it came right back...

Hi thanks for your info. on how to disable the one drive but i updated a sound driver and low and behold where it's stored....ONE DRIVE is in the properties. So, you see, it's attached or embedded or it's going to do what "it" wants to do.

Onedrive is actually quite useful for sharing files between your PCs and friends

My computer is mine and only mine.
    I have NO one drive.
    I have NO microsoft account.
    I never use Windows "store".

All of those are filled with problems, offer little to no value, and can be replaced by other services with fewer problems.

No one drive, microsoft account, no store. Not ever.
Those are the rules in my house.

BTW, what makes you think one drive will "take over".
I pitched it out when I bought this desktop nearly three years ago, and it has never resurfaced.

Agreed, it's not necessary. And more restrictive than non-MS offerings. Like you I hardly ever use the Store- although I have been impressed by the GUI slickness of some apps that you don't see with traditional progs. Being very selective is key.

It is sad how often users report problems with the Store (and Start menu too) - though I've never seen this.

Thanks for all these replies i do appreciate.
I may have gotten a little keyed up when i went into updating Realtek driver from Lenovo (computer manufacturer and another Tens Forum rep helped me to to find as well) and what I noticed when i had downloaded the driver the files showed ONE DRIVE in it's location. I guess the "cloud" storage is what I kind of don't like i feel like it's there outside of my own computer like staying all night at the Cloud and then what and who gets to the cloud besides me not that i even have any cloud files that would be of interest, etc...is the only thing about using it. And i just sort of meant "take over" as a means of even in the guise of uninstalling the OD, or for the most part that was what the windows script did and asked me as it was doing it did i want to go ahead and disable or uninstall and Yes and then no sooner than I got the drivers ready to install did i see where the actual files of driver was located because i may have not unzipped the folder is why i had to go in and see just where I had the called-for part of installing new driver, etc...
So, if that kind of clarifies any of my weirdness i hope and thanks again for taking your time in this regard**

I think people get too caught up in internet FUD and don't really research the stuff they fear. OneDrive is no more unsafe than the browser you use on your PC. In fact, I'd say it's probably more secure than your browser.

Anyway there's absolutely no "requirement" to put anything in the OneDrive folder, and thus the gyrations of "disabling" it is unnecessary if one took the time to look. Trust me, I was leery when I first came upon it (Well SkyDrive) but once I found out its capabilities, I now find I can't live without it.

I can work on files from my laptop drop those files in OneDrive, and easily access them from any of my 4 PC's without ever needing to touch the laptop. I can even work on the files from within the OneDrive folder and access them anywhere.

    Easy. Simple. Secure.

BTW, I personally find it baffling that people bash Microsoft but implicitly trust "Google" and others and all their data collecting efforts

That's how I use OneDrive - but I don't store personal or sensitive data in the cloud. Also the facility to send an email link to friends to share and view a large fie is quite useful.
