A strange case of missing Destop toolbar in the Taskbar

    Greetings.
After installing the latest update on one of my machines, the Desktop toolbar was found missing from the Taskbar. Adding it again doesn't seem to work as it would disappear upon rebooting. The other machines were fine. Appreciate any kind assistance to resolve this strange issue.
    Many thanks and best regards,

Hi, which is the "latest update" for you? People run many different builds; some are Insiders.

The forum prompted you to specify your Windows build. Please advise. Home/Pro...?

If you create a new user for test purposes and log in as that user, do you see the same behaviour?

    Latest meaning 535.
It's titled "A strange case" because only one out of four machines developed this issue.

Just thinking outside the box here:
If you unlock the taskbar, add the Desktop toolbar, then lock the taskbar again, then restart does it save the Desktop toolbar?

If that doesn't work, if you go to Toolbars, New Toolbar, then select your Desktop folder, it will create an additional entry called Desktop. Does that persist across reboots?

Thanks for the kind reply, cknoettg.
Both of your suggestions did not work. However, removing and enabling the language bar seems to have solved the problem for now.

No idea what 535 means. Glad you have it solved but for future threads, run winver from a run box, that will give you the info we need, like

    Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.535).

Your wicked sense of humour is certainly most intoxicating, although I suspect it may not be intentional.

I didn't even see the humor until now. How sad. I need to replenish my liquid refreshment supply ASAP.
