Started my career in computers at Newark Collage of Engineering programming FORTRAN (now New Jersey Institute of Technology) and soon after dropping out joined the Air Force and became a Computer Operator. The old Burrows main frames were HUGE and the memory took up most of the space. The disks were four feet in diameter and could not hold as much as you have in your phone. After the Air Force I finally landed a job as a COBOL programmer for a local insurance company. Got fired and took some time off to work on my college degree at NJIT (Finally finished a few years later). Got a job at Morristown Memorial Hospital as a programmer and worked my way into System Administration. Saw the first personal computers come on the scene and the main frames get replaced by smaller servers. The IBM main frames were running an operating system called VM (Virtual Machine) and now I see the same OS being run on those smaller more powerful servers. Funny how things come back around.

After 27 years at the Hospital I retired and now live in sunny Florida with my wife of 40+ years.

    :)

*This persons grammar/Spelling is not the best*
    I go by L,
I'm a captain that works on some of the ships,
that go through the great lakes. It's a wonderful
job but not for everyone. I'm eventually getting my
United States Coast Guard captains license. Lots of work and study.

I have always loved computers and electronics; they pull me for some reason.
I had the first family computer back in 1995, been in love with Microsoft
ever since. I never cheated and gone to a mac..ever and never will.
However this being said Microsoft has no place as my cellphone.
For that I'm an android fan.
    We use a lot of Microsoft components on the ships that I work on;
so it's a plus that I'm a nerd in that area.
If I had to pick a favorite it would be either XP or Win7.
As for Win 8, I hated! I'm still up in the air about Win 10.
I wanted to say a thanks for those who have already welcomed me to this lil forum family.

I thought I would drop a note to say Hi, :)
I have been into computers for close to 30 years, and have been fixing them for close to that too... all sorts of machines from the c64 & to present, these days I'm into building watercooled systems and a bit of gaming which I like to do for fun, I have serviced or repaired most things computery from printers, desktops & servers to reconfiguring routers & switches (cisco), in the past before the internet went broadband here in the uk I ran a BBS on an Amiga 4000 for a number of years...

    Hey!
    You can call me Adam

I game, I build computers and I do graphical editing for fun, I've been hooked with computing since I first met my Grandmother's beige beast back in 2005, I hadn't seen a computer since then as I was only a young one.. Played card games, crazy taxi and quake all at about 8FPS.

I got my first laptop when I was 13 I used it for as you would assume a 13 year old would, Minecraft back in 2011. I used to prowl on youtube when I finally found out it wasn't spelt "Utub" as I couldn't find it on the google search index back then without properly spelling it and I got really comfortable with my computer, started doing some Java a bit of HTML here and there. I then found out about GFX or Graphical editing, I downloaded photoshop, cinema 4D and AE the only way I knew how, I studied them I used them daily and I became a semi-decent GFX artist with a Pentium processor, I still gamed quite often and around the age of 15 I found out about League of Legends and from there I played a lot of it, with friend, without it didn't matter.

I have no built my own dream PC with an i7 - 6700k and a GTX 1080 after saving for my 18th birthday since I was 15, I now am a competitive CSGO player, being Supreme and working my way to some day the pro scene.
I still do graphical editing but I don't have as much as a passion for it as I used to, I do some small work for friends without charge and that's about it.

I joined this forum to share my knowledge I've picked up over the years and help people problem solve, whatever the issue. I hope I fit into the community well :)

Thanks for reading, have a good day!
