Greetings, Amigos! My wife and I are Americans who are happily retired in Mexico for 11 years. I used to teach high school science, and I actually wrote a high school computer science course for my school--we taught Basic.

We each have our own computer, and we also have three Windows 8 laptops, Spanish language edition, upgraded to Windows 10. We have kids from two orphanages, plus our church, come over to use them.

I got onto this forum so I could find out how to run scannow in Spanish, but I've learned a few other things and have been able to post some helpful information as well.

I retired from IBM in 1991 after 34 years. I happen to be a good example of why some folks think IBM stands for I Been Moved. I have not yet scanned all the Replies in this thread but am heartened to see some folks with similar backgrounds. I began my "techie" career thanks to the USN who schooled me in computers used in shipboard Fire Control. Nothing to do with fires, but positions large guns to fire at land targets, other ships and aircraft. Joined IBM after 4 fun years with USN and then enjoyed many different career paths e.g., servicing mainframes, marketing, development, research and management. I currently "play" with my old Dell laptop and a Lenovo desktop. I started with one of the early IBM PCs in '81 and stayed mostly with PC vs Apple since I focus mostly on the technology and not the end user aspect. Both of my current systems are running W-10 Insider Preview Build 14295, one Home and one Pro. The desktop does most of the heavy lifting, MS Office, music and photo organization, email and maintenance of a website hosted elsewhere. The laptop has little of it's own on it but lets me work in my LazY Boy while watching TV. I use Clouds to share data between the two and use a stand alone NAS box for backup.

I like Windows 10 over 7 and 8.1 because I believe it begins transitioning to and from many device types, and interfaces. Hopefully one day we will be able to enjoy a single system that works across all computers with common interfaces.

I have two questions for anyone:
How do you enter more than one system in the profile?
And, if I replace my laptop with a new one, can I "move" my Win 10 Pro system over to it? The replacement system may be a laptop/tablet but would most likely have Win 10 Home on it from the vendor. I enjoy the "Insider" program and the Pro copy of 10 and would like to keep them. I have no problem losing any personalization or data on the old laptop.
I'm a systems analyst/programmer for a large tier 3 automotive supplier and work on the IBM iSeries
platform for the last 25 years.

Just moved my home network computers to windows 10.

Hiya...I am new to 10 come over from 7 forums :)

I am from UK and run my own very small online business so my laptop is my life lol.

I am soo panicking about what to do as I know I must upgrade to Windows 10 and have left is as late as possible...am currently running Windows Home 7.

I have read up about this transaction but find it all a bit daunting even though I have a little knowledge of OS's. What I am thinking is to make an ISO using media tool and burning it straight to DVD. I want to do a clean install but think it best to first upgrade using the disk mainly to keep my drivers in tact. As far as my files and folders are concerned am happy to reinstall all my apps etc.

Can anybody tell me please the best plan of action?

    Hi and welcome.
Best policy is to check if there are all the drivers for W10 for your laptop, without them it's dead in the water no matter which OS.
That goes for software you are using too.
Second thing, providing it's all compatible with your laptop is to make full backup of your system disk with something like Macrium Reflect so you can go right back if something goes wrong.

Deblk, I am a big Windows 10 fan, but why do you feel that you "must" upgrade to Windows 10? Microsoft will support 7 until 2020.

Yes, you will have to go to 10 eventually, but it doesn´t cost that much to buy a lo-'end computer and transfer your records over later.
