    Welcome Pete,

    My brother-in-law ('to be' back then) with no previous experience at all built an Amstrad from a kit. When it failed to work he called on me for help. I found just the one dry joint, after which it worked perfectly.

    It was actually my brother-in-law's soldering that was at fault, Amstrad (for once) was blameless
