A Guy
Running dual boot 7 and 10, but really only use 7. End of support is nigh for 7, so preparing to make move to more of 10 and less of 7. I do update 10 ongoing , BUT each time I start it I have no restore points, even if I manually create several before shutting down they are gone when I next restart. Bummer , up to now was not an isssue but if I will be using 10 more oftenthen it becomes more important.
Hi. welcome to W10F. Yes that's true, restore points are deleted with every major update but that's because they would be unusable any more from all the changes. There are much netter ways, use some backup SW like ever so popular fast and good Macrium reflect free that would save not only settings but whole OS and all of your files. Comparing to such software, Restore points are practically useless.
Welcome dohouch. Glad to have you as part of the forum.
Have to agree with Mike. Macrium or other third party tool is the way to go. (Test boot media for the tool of your choice.)
