I'm just turned 60, a complete technobimbo (not the music type) and in the UK. Love soul and jazzfusion music and as mad as a march hare!

Have joined the forum as my laptop is now inhabited by what seems like hundreds of pop up ads. I've no objection to some, but they are all over the pages I am trying to view.

I am using Bitdefender Total security at present and when I tried to install Malwarebytes alongside it, it just kept closing down, so presumably bitdefender wont let me install it.... anyone any ideas or know of any threads where people are having similar problems??

Hello, @Jennet. Welcome to Windows TenForums.

I suggest to uninstall any AV and turn on Defender. It's the best you'll get. Works along with the system and at kernel level.

If you do, you may then want to perform an offline scan by either opening Security Center by clicking on the Defender icon in the system tray > Virus & threat protection > Run a new advanced scan > Choose Windows Defender offline scan > Scan.

Or download at the bottom of this page:

I've been a user for decades but only knew enough to get my work done. Now that I'm retired it has become my hobby to learn as much as possible about how these magic boxes work.
