First I would like to say thank you for the support I have bean able to pull from this forum!

My latest problem was fixed using this link: Reinstall and Re-register Cortana in Windows 10

A little bit about me, now retired I have worked as an "On-Site" technician for a computer manufacturer that made "credit card billing systems" as well as "currency sorting & verification".

First use of PC's involved Dos 3.0 now into Windows 10 (which I don't like). Computers were better when they were considered "dumb terminals" before it took a Phd. to interface with them.

Remember a quote from Bill Gates, "640K is more memory than anyone will ever need on a computer," well look where we are today!
Hi Sharky and welcome to Ten Forums. There have been many underestimates about computers. The one I like was about ENIAC of which it was said that they could foresee a need for perhaps three such machines.

Good morning and welcome to TenForums, Sharky. I've left Cortana alone; one of these days I'll get around to figuring her out, but until then, she's just on the sidelines and doesn't bother me at all.

As to Bill Gates, he's a prime example of how not to decide things for your fellow geek!

    Hi there

welcome and good luck --you've chosen a good place here --the planet can do with a load more Engineers, hobbyists, tinkerers and practical people --less bankers, hedge fund stuff, accountants etc !!

Welcome to the club !!! I'm getting towards retirement but love all sorts of Engineering and have done it all over the world in my time --can't beat it --although you can end up in some quite dubious places at times !!.

    Cheers

    Hi, Greg.
Maybe advertise in your local papers/ shop windows etc, service for upgrading PC's to SSD's and cloning over users OS and Apps. I should think this is one area people with less knowledge of PC architecture but a desire to "speed up" existing machines on the cheap fall over.
Being able to advise potential customers on which SSD/ NVME drives will work in their system and cloning their drives so they can just pick up where they left off would probably be a decent freelance income to start you off. Maybe target the older audience and offer the service.
Just an idea to get your feet wet, so to speak.
