Welcome to TenForums, Tripomatic.
Aloha!
It's so nice to be part of a community that cares about helping out your fellow man. I for one have just benefited from a suggestion just last night that has saved me so much time and money in the long run. Mahalo plenty!

John here. I didn't think I'd ever want to move to Win10 but seeing that 2 of my machines at home running Win8.1 started and shut down faster than my 12 year old Win7 laptop, even after I trimmed MSCONFIG and Autoruns of extraneous stuff, and stumbling across Brink's "Upgrade to Win10 from Win7 for free" on this site I thought, what the heck? So I jumped in and the upgrade went fine, no hiccups or anything, and working in Win10 seems little problem.
So thanks to Brink for posting that tutorial. I imagine that Microsoft may just continue offering the upgrade for free since they initially offered it free to so many people, and the fear factor (oh no..Windows 10!!!!!) is waning a bit.
Thank you for the add. I'm new to windows 10 and hoping you guys can help me navigate it. My first PC was a Tandy 1000. though i'm not an expert, my hope is that i'll be able to help people where i can.
