Windows 10 file caching - how to prevent it!!!!
Hi,
I assume that my windows version number is Windows 10 and not the Windows build number.....
I am just transferring stuff from my Windows 7 laptop to my new windows 10 desktop.
I have a batch file that automatically selects various directories before running a base program based upon the user input. This was giving a 'Permission Denied' error when writing the results of a copy operation to /dev/nul.
Thinking that this was the problem I removed the redirection in the batch file and run it again, with the same result and exactly the same command lines as the original. I checked the batch file in notepad and it was the one I had made the modifications to. I checked the properties of the short cut and it was pointed to the correct batch file.
I copied the batch file to another name but it retained the original lines when run. I deleted the batch file expecting a 'not found' error message but the original batch content still ran (even though when you looked in file explorer the batch file was missing).
So, this file is cached somewhere but I don't know where. Does anyone know how to clear the cache ?
Thanks and regards,
Rich
