Renamed my "Data" HDD drive, Ignored warning, lost "documents" folder

Hi "guys" i'm in the mire. Well n truly. Im running win 10 and its been updated to the Nov Update PRIOR to the latest problem. I have 1x SSD and normally 2 HDDs at 2TB. OS is on SSD and Data on HDD1
I can't at this moment supply more speck on my desk top comp. Other than to say, everything is no more than 3 years old. I had a couple of HDD 2TB which played up and i was working on them. I was getting back inside the comp to rearrange the SATA cables etc and swapping drives. I then renamed my drive letters to try to give some clarity to which of the 3 drives was which & to align the cables on the mother board. I ignored the warning when i renamed the only drive which was not part of the problem and before i had thought about it, hit the button. The drive showed a new letter but id lost a folder. I tried renaming it to no avail. This is THE FOLDER i least wanted to loose. I have tried renaming, and, renaming the drive back, i have also tried Reccuva, which did not disclose anything which looked like the lost files let alone the folder. I have looked at Stellar and EasUS in so far as doing scans but nothing has shown up to suggest it will be worth the cost of the prog/s . I am now considering "Easy Partition" with a view to recover the whole drive. I have not written to the drive and fully expect the files to be present if i can convince something to return the drive to a state where i can see a folder which could be my documents. Without the sys spec i know this is short of info but that info is mainly in the lost folder. If somebody wants specific info ill find it. Q..whats the chances of Easy Partition restoring the drive with the missing folder intact ? Cheers

Welcome to the forum. How did you rename the drive as it shouldn't have deleted anything?

Hi Samuria, and thanks for a very prompt reply. I went into Disk Management, changed the letter and hit the button Ignoring the warning message.

Can you post a screen shot from disk manager showing all the drives and details

If the warning was something about possibly losing access to your data, this is not about losing data - just access. (If you mapped your D: drive to E:, for example, anything trying to use D: won't find your data. That is expected ... and desired.)

You say you lost "a folder". Just one? Others on the same drive still show up?

What is the missing folder? Could it be part of a Windows library? I suppose renaming a drive might mess up links in a library.

I have taken a screen shot using MWsnap to capture the details from Disk manager, I hope this shows you what you want.
If not, i hope you will let me know..The disk i had my info on was named as "Storage" (it still is) .

The folder which i have lost is "Documents" and yes id GUESS it is part of the windows library.
as far as i can tell it is the only loss.

Yes, "Documents" is a library. I know next to nothing about libraries, but I assume Documents has a link to D: that needs to be changed to E:. And I'm sure someone who does know about libraries will soon tell you how to do that.

I also assume there is something on your E: drive that is your folder of missing stuff. Your folder has not been lost; it's just hiding.

Hi guys, I thought that if my D was renamed E and then scanned, E would show whatever was hiding (hidden) just as D would if i renamed E to D. I have done that previously, renamed the drive E BACK to D. Unfortunately renaming it back did not return my "Documents" to view. I have returned to Reccuva and im doing a deep scan (4hrs Plus) in the hope that something will become apparent as i learn more about what has happened/can be done to recover anything.
