    dll problem after clean install

I have just carried out a clean reinstall of windows 10 - latest version as downloaded as part of reinstall. So far no problems other than a message on boot up saying there is a problem with TVicport.dll and suggesting I reinstall it.

How do I reinstall/install DLL files? Googling for an answer I find plenty help but many seem to imply it is hard and I suggest I use their software.

I seem to recall sorting this issue quite easily some time ago but can't remember how I did it. (I am a Platinum surfer so i think that excuses my forgetfulness!).

The problem is on a Lenoro Thinkpad and seems to relate to fan control, but boot up proceeds normally after I acknowledge message.

Thanks. Not sure if that is what I need as it doesn't cover Windows 10. It may be something that came with the laptop - if I can find the installation disk, if it came with one!

Computers haven't come with discs of any kind in a long time.

When you say Clean Install, exactly what did you do? Did you follow a tutorial? If so can you provide a link.
Clean Install should not have left anything from the original install. It should be uncontaminated by anything and you should not be seeing what you are seeing, so I don't think you really did a Clean Install.

I'd recommend doing it again but follow this tutorial: Clean Install Windows 10

Thanks. I'll do that. I followed a Microsoft link I found by Googling - How to do a clean installation of Windows 10 | Windows Central

@Sigurd, the tutorial you followed is excellent and every bit as good as the one I gave you. Better in some ways because it covers backing up data too. If you followed that exactly, including deleting all partitions on the drive you installed Windows 10 to then there is no need to do it again other than to see if anything changes.

Once you have deleted all partitions on the drive you are installing to, there cannot be anything left over.

The only other suggestion I would make is if you have other hard drives, disconnect them during the install and don't reconnect them until after the install is complete and oyu have done a WIidows Update.

The error I am getting on boot up is
    "TPFanControl.exe error.
The code execution cannot proceed because TVicPort.dllwas not found. Reinstalling this program may fix the problem".

I think I must have a CD that came with the laptop somewhere - that's what comes with 80 years experience of life - brain gets full and things get lost! I'll see if I can trace this down on the internet and search through my old CDs!

Going back to my original question, I did find a site with the DLL on it but it wanted me to buy a program to install it. Needless to say I declined!

    Edit - Found this https://www.file.net/process/tpfancontrol.exe.html
Once I get past this error message the laptop works fine so maybe I can just ignore it or find where it loads from and stop that.
Thinkpad Fan Controller (tpfancontrol) download | SourceForge.net says it is to reduce annoying fan noises (which I don't have (or don't hear - another curse or blessing of age!).

If you did a clean install as the tutorial described the TVicPort.dll problem should not occur. DId you follow the steps exactly as written, deleting all partitions on the install drive and installing to a unallocated, unformatted drive?
