    Saving files to redirected folders

    Good Morning;
    This relates to Windows 10. I've changed the location field in the properties dialog box from C:\Users\UserName\Documents (on ssd) to a new folder D:\Documents (on hdd). I feel a little silly to ask this but, which pathname do I use for saving documents? The one to the C: drive or the one to the D: drive, or doesn't it matter?

    D:\Documents is where you will save files.

    There is no point in re-directing Windows folders if you then keep on using the old location (I don't know why the re-direction doesn't entirely remove the folder under c:\users). I believe it was that practise which caused some people to lose data during a W10 update. It would be best to get into the habit of accessing your documents via ThisPC>Documents (and pretend you don't know about c:\users), or forget Windows 'clever' folders altogether, cancel the re-direction and just use D:\whatever-takes-your-fancy.

    Most Browsers have a setting in Options or Preferences to change where downloads are stored.

    By redirection, do you mean you setup a symlink from C:\Users\UserName\Documents to D:\Documents? If so then doing anything with C:\Users\UserName\Documents should in fact use D:\Documents so saving to C:\Users\UserName\Documents should really save to D:\Documents.

    That's the whole point of symlinks.
