    Windows 10 shut down problem

Upgraded desk top (self-build) from Windows 7 HP 64 bit to Windows 10 Home 64 bit using the Windows Update method. All went well exceptthat when I press Start button > Power > Shut down the pc shuts down andthen immediately it restarts again as if I had pressed on Restart instead! Toshut down the pc I have to do it with the pc power button, it never happenedwith Windows 7.
    Any help please.

Hello Scopio, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

As a test, temporarily turn off Fast Startup, and see how your PC shuts down afterwards. Fast Startup can sometimes cause shut down issues that may be related to this.

I've had NO shutdown problems for about 15 years..... since I started using a "Quick Shutdown" icon on my desktop, to shut down my PC's. The syntax has changed since XP, but it still works a treat. In both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, my shutdown times run in the 5 to 8 second range.

    Try this, , ,

Shut Down Computer in Windows 10

create a New Shortcut on your desktop, using the following syntax:

    %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 1

Spaces can be important, so just Copy & Paste the above line into a New Desktop Shortcut.
Then to aid the shutdown process, close all running programs before you click the Shutdown Icon.
    Good Luck!
