New installation - now just need to move files back

    Hello All,

Hope the day is treating you well? Very quickly (I hope), a little bit of help from this great gang.

    Windows 10 Pro (1909 build)

I have a new install of Windows 10 on an SSD. My 'old' C: files (Program Files, Users, etc) are now on my H: drive but I want to migrate them back onto my new C: drive but not sure how this is best achieved.

Any help would be hugely appreciated (apologies as I'm sure this has been covered previously but I cannot find exactly what I'm looking for).

Many thanks in advance and best regards

The User files are fairly easy, just copy them back to the respective folders. The Program File and Program Files (x86), Program Data, etc., will need to be re-installed. They cannot just be copied back. There are registry entries and many other system entries that are done during an installation of your apps that cannot be done manually with just a copy. If you saved everything first, which it sounds like you did, just re-install your apps. Hopefully you have all your license keys you may need.

You need to reinstall those programs on a clean install. You could have used an imaging tool e.g. Macrium Reflect to migrate between the disks.
