    Help ASAP

Running Windows 10, pc specs are
    Msi gaming 970 board
    AMD FX-8350 CPU
    1060 3gb GPU
    500 EVGA White PSU
    16gb DDR3 Ripjaws
    2tb HDD
    Sandisk 120gb SSD

A couple weeks ago my PC just wouldn't post. It turns on and all the RGB and Fans start spinning (even on GPU) however no image comes on the screen. Im using HDMI cable, already tested cable and TV both are functional.

Have you rechecked all cable connections?

Did you knowingly make any changes in your hardware or software configuration a couple of weeks ago, just before this started?

I had exactly your stated symptoms a couple of years ago. Fans spinning, nothing whatsoever on screen.

Failed motherboard that was replaced under warranty.

Difficult to diagnose a failed motherboard without sophisticated tools you likely don't have----other than by process of elimination, component by component.

CPUs very rarely fail. Spinning fans indicate your PSU is at least half alive.

I made no changes hardware wise or software wise. Might be the MOBO how do I check that? I have no other pc laying around to test my parts on, nor around MOBO that I can switch out. IF it is the MOBO what MOBO can I replace my current one with?

I have no experience with AMD stuff, but I'd think you could easily find a compatible replacement.

Let others give some suggestions. Tough to assume it is a bad board, but definitive proof is also tough for the average home user with few tools.

You could try to check the RAM, but I don't think bad RAM would keep you from seeing anything at all on screen.

I guess that AMD has no built-in graphics, but I can't help you diagnose a bad video card. I don't use them.

I assume you have no spare PSU to swap in temporarily to rule that out.

No spare PSU, not the GPU I have already went and bout another GPU and tried it. It starts up but no image once again.

Well, if GPU good, CPU good, nothing at all on screen, what are you left with?

    Cables? Connectors? Motherboard?

As I said, if only RAM was bad, I'd expect you'd still see something on screen.

Let others comment. I'd begin shopping boards in the meantime.

Sounds like it's not posting and bad RAM can cause that. You have 16GB, is that two 8GB DIMMs or four 4GB DIMMs?

How ever it's configured, remove one DIMM and see what happens. If no change and you have two DIMMs swap the removed DIMM with the installed DIMM. If 4 DIMMs, remove one at a time and test, until only one is left. If you get to that point, swap out the remaining installed DIMM with one of the removed and test.

Change the CMOS battery then load the BIOS defaults and see if it boots.

    Hi there

I've found a possible way of testing is :

    1) Remove EVERYTHING except keyboard -- I mean all HDD's, any other peripherals and ALL the memory sticks.

    2) Ensure all the connections to any power leds are properly connected -- I've had a computer apparently dead because tiny cables from the on/off switch (micro switch) to the mobo connection weren't connected properly. This in your case is probably not a problem as you see all fans working etc.

    3) power on computer with 0K RAM and no HDD's -- you should at least get the BIOS start up screen -- if you can see anything then your Mobo / CPU are OK.

    4) If you can't -- could be your graphics card (Or Monitor !!). Faulty HDD's / SSD's can also cause computer fail to boot -- had that problem on a laptop --totally dead on power up until I swapped the HDD for a new SSD. --try another monitor to eliminate that problem --most domestic TV's have an HDMI in so you could test on another TV you might have in the house. If that still doesn't work you need to check the graphics -- does it have other outputs than HDMI e.g VGA / DVI --try those.

    5) if that still fails -- I'm afraid you are on your own on that == probably need to send the whole kybosh back to retailer.

    6) if you see Bios messages - replace components ONE AT A TIME and keep re-booting to check if computer boot messages appear. Do the memory sticks one at a time. Then the disks.

    7) if after installing a component you no longer see Bios start up messages then that one is probably faulty or connected incorrectly.

Also check if the graphic card / mobo has any leds to indicate boot status if nothing appears on a monitor.

    Cheers
