    Correct drivers?
I think you missed the part where I said, all drivers, the ones from HP website for my laptop model, ones from Windows update and the ones from AMD.com all cause this issue.

So I don't know where to find the "correct drivers".

You need to manually select the OS.

    I tried both Windows 7 and 8 (64 - bit) drivers.

And now, I realize I cannot even disable the AMD graphics through device manager because doing that stops the Intel drivers from working as well.

So in the current scenario, I am forced to use the buggy AMD drivers with 80 second wait time during each boot. Totally defeats the point of me getting an SSD.

    Please perform the following steps:

    1) Uninstall everything AMD using Display driver uninstaller and install new drivers from the HP website (Windows 7).

    2) Enter the computer's serial or product number and the operating system to view available drivers.

Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.2.0 (or newer version if available)

Multiple drivers may be tested using DDU.

The correct driver would be for the AMD HD 6470M which you said you have. Have you tried that?

    1) Already spent last night removing drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller and installing drivers one by one. All of them exhibited the same issue.

    2) It takes me to the same page which I linked.

Yes, obviously. Both the Catalyst and the Crimson Beta drivers.
    Both exhibit the same issue.

So as a temporary work around. I installed the Intel HD 3000 drivers from Intel (Not HP) and then the AMD Catalyst drivers from AMD (Not HP).

Then I uninstalled (not disabled, disabling will also crash the Intel HD 3000 drivers) the AMD drivers from device manager and added a group policy to never update the drivers that match it's hardware ID.

This prevents the AMD drivers from updating while also keeping my Intel HD 3000 drivers functioning properly.

Unfortunately, this leaves my AMD GPU obsolete and puts more stress on the CPU with it's integrated GPU but that's a sacrifice I am willing to make for a faster startup time.

My guess is that the laptop is really old and the motherboard does not perfectly support Windows 10.

See if you can find other AMD driver versions:

Yes, that's where I downloaded my drivers from. I am not a complete newbie.

    Hi lolcocks,

I've exactly the same issue on my father's Pavilion G6 laptop I've just installed with Windows 10 and a SSD. Did you find an appropriate driver or are you still running with your workaround above ?

Thanks a lot for your investigations,

    Patrick

There are some snide comments from the OP so I've declined to help further on this thread.
