    Invisible folder

I copied a folder called Electronics and all its many subfolders from another PC (which runs XP) using USB stick L:.

Then I opened it here in my Win 10 Pro PC. The subfolder L:\Electronics i7\Arduino, clearly exists, and I can open its files. But its parent does not display it! I've opened and closed and tried various views with the same baffling result. And searches with any tool for any file within it always correctly locates it. But the Electronics folder will just not show it.

Go to the View tab and put a check in Hidden Items.
If that doesn't work, Arduino is a Program and it takes a snapshot of your computer specs, see if there is a program shortcut for Arduino when clicked will list the files

Thanks, but I always enable Hidden files.

Arduino is a folder containing a score of subfolders and over a hundred files. As mentioned, I can open any of them in various ways - apart from directly first opening the invisible folder!

I have no idea what is going on, but why not just create a new, empty folder called 'arduino', check it is visible, then copy the files to it? Does not explain or solve the mystery, but sometimes life is too short!

    Strange.

Get a temporary alternate to File Explorer, and see if it shows it there:
Top 5 File Explorer Alternatives for Windows 10

If it is shown in one of those alternate programs, then I would suggest trying to rename that folder and see if it shows up in Windows File Explorer. If it doesn't show, then create a new folder with a different name and move all those files to that new folder.

You know... play around a little bit and see if you can figure something out using alternate "File Explorers"

But always keep in mind to make sure you have a backup of all of those files that are residing in that "hidden" folder.

Right-click in the background of an Explorer window displaying the contents of Electronics & select Open PowerShell window here. Then type:
    Code:
    gci -force
and see if your folder is listed there.

Thanks all. Pleased to report I eventually got it to make itself visible. Although I still don’t understand it fully, I found one of the many items in my File Explorer right click menu was ‘Attribute Changer’, a tool I must have installed years ago and forgotten about. Played around with it rather aimlessly but I think the step that did the trick was enabling ‘Include subfolders’. Puzzling though, because all the other subfolders were already visible.
