I just enabled Windows Search and get the same. I think it's how it's supposed to work:

I get the same if using a third party search utility to delete files. The deleted files remain visible until the window is refreshed.

However if I use WizTree to search a directory then delete a file it does get marked as deleted.

I think I have found a temporary workaround:
Thanks to the windows command line tool mach2, I can disable the "new file explorer search feature" on the command line with:
    .\mach2.exe disable 18755234

After a restart of the windows-explorer process, I finally get back the working, fast and usefull search box.

    You can re-activate it with
    .\mach2.exe enable 18755234
Source of this hint: Neue Suchfunktion im Datei Explorer deaktivieren aktivieren Windows 10 Deskmodder Wiki
If you are looking for a list of all available numbers and functions:
    mach2/19025.txt at master . riverar/mach2 . GitHub
    SearchSuggestions: 18755234

With the "old" search function, I can also delete my entries in the search box history with DEL again (another missing feature in 1909 search function).

I really hope, that M$ will fix this behaviour soon.

Hi, on 1903, I find if I delete a found file, it can take up to some 20s to refresh - which is absurd, of course.

I've noticed this sort of thing for a long time. In this case I used a jpg file.

By contrast if I use XYplorer, refresh occurs in well under 1s.

Yes, I can confirm this for 1909 too!
Maybe the new indexer is that slow?

I'm pretty sure that this was not the case in the previous Win10 b1903...

Thanks so much for that! I couldn't believe how the new search enlarges the address and search box so much (as if I'm a grandpa), it also causes a weird mini delay when I click the searchbox. Since the new search really spawns a new SearchUI.exe process. Just added this mach2 to my personal collection of scripts that disable stuff like this on new installations. Thanks again!

I hope too, but I would not hold my breath...

@WTenNewbie Hi, with that mod, if you type an Advanced Query Syntax search in file explorer's search box, is it then highlighted in blue again in 1909, indicating correct syntax? E.g.

    type:mp3 datemodified:1/5/19 .. 2/6/19

    Thanks!
