Can't perform advanced search in Windows 1909 file Explorer

    Hi,
I installed yesterday Windows 1909. Now I want to do a simple search operation in File Explorer. I want to find the documents I changed between November 13 and November 21.
So I type in the search box the formula datemodified:11/13/2019 .. 11/21/2019 kind:=document
In Windows 1903 that’s piece of cake. You get plenty of assistance when you type it in the search box. In 1909 I don’t find a user friendly way to get the formula.

Note: They are in different folders, so I can't use a filter, only a search operation.

    Does anybody know a solution?

    Thanks a lot,
    Koen

What type of view are you running for folders?

Use 'File Explorer' for searching. Then use the 'Details' view. This will give you an upper menu consisting of 'Date/Time'Size/Created/Modified/ which you can add or delete specific file details. By default Win 10 only shows Date modified but if you right click that upper menu, you can add 'Date Created'
Then you can search for the file name you want and the time created or modified will appear, which you can then 'sort' to find the latest date

    Good luck

    Hi,

Thank you for the reply. But this does not help me. The files I'm looking for are in different folders, so sorting can't help me.

I really need to search through the folders.

Hi, like you, I noticed that in 1909 the blue highlighting of Advanced Query Syntax is no longer provided. There has been a change in the way search is implemented. I quite agree with you that beyond the basics provided in the ribbon, the implementation for the incompletely documented syntax is unhelpful.

    The search syntax still works...

I posted a comment on this in the Feedback Hub app.

The folder view is not relevant here, is it?

Folder view set on 'Details' will give you an upper top menu which no other folder view gives you. Unless you select the 'Content' view sorry
Details view upper menu gives you the ability to see every single detail about every folder created/modifed on Windows

But it doesn't help with constructing more complex syntax in the search box. The blue highlighting present for correct syntax is not available in 1909.

@KoenD - you might consider using a free 3rd party indexing find-as-you-type search utility such as this:

For lack of a better one, you could go back to 1903.

It's easy and quick. Just uninstall the Enablement Package (KB4517245) to turn off all 1909 features and drop back from build 18363 to 18362.
