Change Folder's Time Stamp

I have used this program for years. Works on folders as well as files. New version out today, too ! -

What are some examples that it would be beneficial to change timestamps of files and folders? For files/folders, you can simply change the ascending/descending order by simply using the explorer extension tree built into explorer already:



I don't understand why a shell extension is necessary at all because if the order cant be changed by way of my screenshot, then all you have to do is add or subtract something to a file/folder and save it again in order for explorer to reset its position in a list.

Thanks. I've been looking for a program like this for a while, to deal with photo file date issues.

I use two utilities

SKTimeStamp - Stefans Tools - see its download page - this is useful for setting whatever you want as the Created / Modified / Accessed timestamp for folders & files
and
NirSoft's FolderTimeUpdate - this is useful for setting the timestamp of folders to that of the newest file within it {it can work its way through whole folder trees}

And several of the free and paid-for file managers can do it. I use Total Commander [paid] on my main computer and Free Commander on others.
