    Corrupted Start Menu

    I upgraded to 1909 yesterday, and, among other things, the tiling operation of Start Menus is corrupted.

    For random tiles, they either don't work and/or cannot be moved, or some shortcuts are not successfully pinned. They either do or don't show up in the apps list on the left, but even if they do, there is no option to pin.

    So I restored a clean, reliable Macrium backup, Win 10 1507, with a working start menu, and upgraded to 1903, and I have the same problem.

    Is there a solution to this?

    I just found and ran the Start Menu Troubleshooter.

    Here's the report but I don't know what to do about it. There is no way to copy it. I made images

    In the event that the Start menu isn't working, then re-registering the Start menu may help fix it.

    This post will show you how to re-register the Start menu for all users in Windows 10.,

    1. In the Cortana search bar, search for Windows PowerShell.

    2. Right click the correct result and select Run as administrator.

    3. Type the following command and then press Enter key.

    Code:
    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    If you get an error uninstalling, you’re either not running Windows PowerShell as an administrator, or you’ve incorrectly typed in the command from Step 3.

    FreeBooter; There should be a confirmation, but It looks like it is still running.

    There should be a line similar to:
    Code:
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Operation completed successfully

    or

    Could not complete . if it failed

    There is no confirmation output.

    Code:
    PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
    PS C:\Windows\system32>

    After 4 tries, it worked, but this was typical of the long list of results

    Did you copy and paste the command?

    You can also repair install Windows 10 without losing your personal files and installed programs.
