    Power settings

    Hi

So back when i had Windows 7 instead of Windows 10, if i left home and my PC was still turned on, then after about 30 minutes the Green Led from the PC tower started blinking and the PC kinda went into some form of power saving. I know it wasn't hibernate or sleep because i had those turned off in Windows 7. The only setting i have is for the screen in power options that turns off after 10 minutes.

But in Windows 10 i noticed it doesn't do this anymore, after 2-3 hours, the PC doesn't go into some power saving and the Green Led doesn't start blinking like it did in Windows 7.

Can anyone please tell me why ? Or what is the setting for this ?

Could you be referring to your hard disk going into standby?

    I honestly don't know.

When the Green Led from the PC tower started blinking back on Windows 7, was that the hard drive setting ? I literally have no idea.

I think the HDD setting is enabled, but not sure why the Green Led from the PC tower didn't start blinking as it should after 20 minutes or so. Here's an image.Power settings-hdd-power-setting.jpg

Since you are talking about a light that is very specific to your computer, what is the make and model of your computer? Is it home made?

If by home made you mean if i build it myself then yes it is home made. I have this PC for over 15 years, but over these 15 years i've kept upgrading it every 3-4 years.

The Green Led i'm reffering to is just the power light. The only thing i haven't really changed is the PC case so i'm not really sure if most modern cases today still use green for power.

Anyway back on Windows 7 after about 20-30 minutes if i left the PC, it would go into some form of power saving mode and that Green Led or light would start blinking. Don't know exactly what setting it is, if it's the hard drive setting or not, but i put an image, maybe it helps.

One thing i know for certain is that both Sleep and Hibernate are NOT enabled.

Power is set to "Balanced" in the power & sleep settings. It's a desktop PC not a laptop so it doesn't use or require battery.

That sounds like just regular sleep cycle to me.

Huh ? I don't understand. Sleep and Hibernate are not enabled.

But shouldn't it the same thing also happen on W10 also ? I mean shouldn't the Green Power Led start blinking and go into power saving just like as in W7 after about 20 minutes ?

As far as i know back when i had W7 i didn't had Sleep or Hibernate turned on and i don't have them turned on in W10 either.

    Rocky i forgot to ask.

Is there any way i could possibly see the old settings i had back when i had W7 ? As far as i know, Sleep or Hibernate wasn't enabled back on W7 but if i could check somehow to be sure it would be good.

The powercfg command will tell you more. You can explore options with powercfg /? etc
