Any 3rd party disk cleaners running? I once had a utility that could delete any found empty directories -- I made sure that option was not turned on.

Yes (CCleaner), but I almost don't use it and I had this problem before even installing it. I think there's a Windows disk cleanup task (I didn't create it but I've been told it's automatically set by Windows 10) but it doesn't delete the folders.

I don't why your empty folders are being deleted. If somebody comes up with the reason and solution - I and you will learn :)

[Changed wording slightly after seeing it in a quote :) ]

    Thanks!

EDIT: After doing a clean install I've not been having this problem.

Clean install of Windows? How do you do that? Do you lose anything when you do that?

Yes. By booting from USB before the system loads so you aren't asked to sign in to an user account. I use an USB Flash Drive to store the Windows 10 installer, keep it inserted on the PC, restart it, press a F key to access the menu where one chooses if he/she wants to from the disc/DVD/USB/network, choose to boot from the USB and from there follow the steps to reinstall Windows. Everything is lost so I copy all the files/folders I want to an external HDD before doing it. Sorry, english isn't my native language.

    BillSamuel,

    As Random Guy says
Clean Install - TenForumsTutorials and, in preparation for one, consider Backup and Restore Device Drivers - TenForumsTutorials

    Denis

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]
