How do I get rid of the window pane on the right side of the screen?

    How do I get rid of the window pane on the right side of the screen?


    Whenever I open My Documents folder and then open a document or picture or video, there is always a pane on the right side of the screen with a large thumbnail of whatever I have opened. How do I get rid of that pane?

    Are you talking about the Explorer preview pane???

    Thanks for the response, Keith. Here is a picture. When I open word, excel, or a picture in Explorer, it comes up and there is a pane on the RIGHT of the screen with a duplicate (thumbnail?) I don't want it. How do I get rid of it? Before I open a file, the pane is there, and its split in two. The top half says Search Documents or Pictures or whatever, and the bottom half says "Select a file to Preview". I don't want that.

    Open File Explorer. Not Excel or Word.

    Open view menu to reveal "Preview pane". Toggle it on or off as you wish. Presumably to off in your case.
