    Start menu, search and other apps won't start from task bar


    Hello,

    I have just upgraded from Win 7 Ultimate to Win 10 build 10240

    The sart menu button does not activate anything, search doesn't either, Notification bubble does not open anything either.

    Safe mode produces same behaviour, I have uninstalled AVG Anti virus as some people were correlating AV software with this behaviour.

    I also ran a system checker as suggested in some forums.

    Nada.

    I can right click on the start button but not left click

    Please help!

    I have this issue with Chrome ! Clicking it does nothing ! Have to right click and then select Chrome again in the sub-menu - very frustrating.

My start menu does not show any installed apps such as VLC, steam or you name it. It does show up things like calculator but for the most part it does not show any installed apps. I did not mess with the indexing option and dont know what im missing...
So the 29th of July i went ahead and installed the Windows 10 update. It installed correctly and ran smooth without any problems for a few hours. Suddenly i realized that my Start Menu button didn't open the start menu when i clicked it. Neither did...
I've noticed now on multiple computers I've installed Windows 10 on, that a quick win-key search isn't able to bring up installed apps. I'm sure this isn't how it's meant to be, and that there must be a fix... right?
I'm running the RTM on a netbook and have noticed that, unlike in Windows 7/8/8.1, I'm no longer able to hit Start and type in an executable. I have a bunch of portable apps that I typically type in and pull up. Now, the Start menu search pulls up...
