Laptop stuck at bios entry screen.

All of a sudden my Gigabyte P27 fails to boot up. Stays on bios entry screen with little circle spinning. Does not respond to any keys.
Took it to the techies. They eventually came back to tell me that they could get it going on Windows 8 but when they tried 10 the problem recurs.
My reaction was of course WTF!!
    How can that be?
    Any ideas anyone?

Did it originally come with Win8/8.1? There's a number of possibilities keeping it from working with Win10, usually hardware drivers [software] but Win10 frequently will work with Win8 drivers.

Remove the battery for while which resets the BIOS & try booting on mains power. Also try replacing the CMOS battery if you can access it - a new one should be c. 3.2V. Load the BIOS defaults, boot to Windows then reset the BIOS values to your preferred ones if it works.

You might also have a corrupted BIOS. Switch to the backup BIOS if you have one or reflash the BIOS to the latest version.

Windows 10 has been running happily on the laptop for the past year.
This situation came out of the blue on Monday.

Can you boot laptop into BIOS setup utility.

Bad RAM module could be causing the boot problem.

Failing HDD could cause the boot problem.

It's currently up and running on Windows 8.1.
I'm going to do some testing, BIOS updates, and switching of HDDs later today.
There's no way I want to be stuck on 8.1!

Have you been running Windows 10 with the external Seagate drives? Or, did you add after updating to Windows 10?

Once I got into the system a simple restore of my last backup sorted things out.
There is now one techie I will never consult again.

Learning on your own is always good!.... $60 isn't what you wanted to pay, but you got away easier than some
