    Online musical noise??

Hi, I have a Dell computer with Windows 10 ( I don't think that matters ). If I leave my computer on line, that is I don't sign off line, and go about my business, my computer makes a plink-plink kind of a chirp, somewhat like a piano note, if that makes sense. It does it know matter if I left it on my home page, on my email page, It is like it is receiving a signal or getting updates or something. I hope I explained it so that somebody understands what I am talking about. Any Ideas what is going on?? By the way, it never does it if I go off line. Also, the sound is random.

    Thanks for any information.

Outlook chimes an alert if new email is received. You might have similar alerts set.

Thanks Steve, you may be right, I will have to pay attention the next time it happens, as I say, it only does it randomly.

Thanks Pool Man, I am not sure if it is my email notification. I don't think it is, because I think it would do it if, say I am on line and searching the internet, but not looking at my email, I would hear it. It seems to do it only when the computer is idle for a while. It is a pling-pling sound. I have come back after a while, and check my email, and don't have anything new. Also, when I am say, searching the web, I get a notice that pops up that shows new arrived mail, and I can read it when it pops up, but there is no sound with it. Very strange.
