    tilde key ~~ very difficult to make work on many different keyboards

    On 3 different keyboards my tilde key ~" ~ " does not work right. I have to press hard several times to make it work. Anyone know what is going on ? `````````````
    ````````~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ non of the other keys have any problem but the tilde key will not work right. does not make a difference what USB port its plugged into. These are direct corded keyboards.
    It could be any number of reasons. First and foremost is a dirty keyboard. The switch or actuator could be failing or broke.
    Are all 3 keyboards the same make/model? Are the keyboards OEM from a retail PC.....like HP or Dell? Are there any drivers for said keyboards.
    (alt 126) Two Dell keyboards and one acer keyboard. I did find some info on a Language setting that would be the cause but my version of windows 10 does not show the same settings to change.
    2 dell keyboards and one Acer. The mouse on this system would not work very well ether very jittery. I purchased a gamer mouse with drivers and it solved the problem.
    If there is a keyboard key that you never use, you could use Sharpkeys to re-map it to ~ instead.
    This is what I get: `a with the reverse apostrophe and this is what I get: ~a with Shift + a.
    OK. That eliminates an accented keyboard layout issue. You might want to download a keyboard test utility.
