So, since that boot DVD disk is no good, I am going back to the start.

Selected Option 1
which leads here:

Downloaded "media creation tool". Ran.
It says "Windows 10 Setup" and I chose
"Create installation media (USB drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC"

And here is where I get stuck,
What next here?
Do I leave this box checked, or uncheck it?

In this instance, I am UNchecking it.
I then select "ISO file You'll need to burn the ISO file to a DVD later"

I name the file Windows October 20
and it is Save as type: ISO file

I cannot post a screen shot of what this contains, it won't open:

I put this disk into the Win7 machine. Power off, DVD in.
Somehow this is supposed to tell me if this is "bootable" but I have no idea what I
am supposed to see on the screen.

At some point, I got a black screen with white gibberish, and at the bottom it says
something like "Boot ESC" or something like that followed by a rapid countdown timer.

For some reason, you have not replied to this question:
Am I supposed to hit ESC before the countdown ends, or AFTER countdown ends?

I will now end this, go boot, and come back to modify my comments here.

To you, this is simple, clear, obvious.

You do this sort of thing all the time. I do not.

My mind works this way: I learn incredibly slowly, by brute force rote repetition.
If I don't use something each day, my mind forgets it.

I will perform those steps you recommend, but it is probably going to be a slow process.

Hi, the DVD you have created is not Kyhi's. I think it's probably a Win 10 installation disk- it has a setup.exe, so it's going to - yes- set up something. We don't want to do that: we want to boot your PC.

This is what it should look like:

You should see this when you click on that:

Download that and burn it to a DVD.
Then post a screenshot of its contents, confirming it's as I've shown above.

I believe I already did this. A previous disk contains this:

I note that this contains more things than are listed in your screen shot.

My best recollection is that it did not boot the Win10 machine.

I will, as you say, go back to the link, and start all over.

How many RAM modules are there and are they DDR3 or DDR4?

Remove all RAM modules and re-seat one. Test boot.
Repeat testing one RAM module at a time.

There are two slots, and only one RAM stick. I believe it is DDR3, but I have no way to find out.
Neither slot works to boot.
All I get is this screen:

Wow that POST list is DAUNTING.

I mean.....I don't have a job, I have all the time to do it.....but it feels like
they are saying. You have the Sahara desert. Here is a teaspoon.
Start shoveling.

Some of the things I simply won't be able to do.

Update: following post troubleshooting:
1. Removed everything but power cable. Powered on, no sound.
Then attached monitor cable. Two beeps.
Menu says "Reboot and select proper boot device, etc.

2. computer is plugged directly into wall outlet
3. The beep code chart is meaningless to me
4. All fans are running
5. Impossible to be sure, but all cables seem secure
6 and 7....there is no way I'm touching any of this stuff. No way.
8.I already tested the RAM stick.
all other ideas are things I cannot or will not do.

When the single RAM module was removed from the DIMM was the computer powered on to compare the beeps?
How many beeps were there and were they the same or different from when the RAM was in the DIMM (the beeps heard in your video).

No, I don't consider it safe to mess with hardware when the power is turned on.
I'm not even happy about the fact that the power supply could still kill me even when unplugged.

There were, as stated, two beeps after I tried the RAM in a different slot. they were the exact same sounds and spaced the same, as before.

Dalchina, I have once again gone here, and once again downloaded:

Downloads - Win14393PESE-X64 - ToolsLib

The instructions say:

"Extract ISO to Fat32 Formatted USB Stick.. Reboot and select USB as Boot Device to boot into WindowsPE
WinPESE = Windows Preinstallation Enviroment Special Edition"

I know you will find this strange, but I don't know what to do now. "Extract" is too vague to understand.

What there IS present is something named "Unpack ISO" and I clicked on that.
The screen shot shows what is there.
What do I do next?

From the DVD screenshot you posted, it look as as if you've got the correct iso- but i don't know what the extra items are that are shown. Suggest as you say it's worth burning the disk again, and then checking it only contains what's expected.

Then try booting your DVD.

Note: I've never personally used Rufus, so prefer not to advise on that.

To extract files from an iso file you could, for example, rt click it, Mount the iso, open the new drive letter created in file explorer then drag and drop the files - e.g. to a new folder you've created.

Or you could download and install e.g. 7-zip (free) and use that.

Ok, I'm sorry, but that leaves me a little lost.
what is throwing me is your reference to Rufus.

You linked me to a page that gave steps to create a new ISO.

Now, I need very very very detailed steps as to WHAT TO DO NEXT

"burn the disk again" is too vague.

The big picture:
a. your 2 beeps: is there a significant hardware problem: that needs resolving.
b. rescuing data: we're trying to get your PC booted from a live boot disk so you can access the internal drives and back up data you need to an external disk.

After that, I don't believe it will be possible for you to rescue your current installed Windows, unless that is resolved once any hardware problem is fixed.

Burn the DVD again:

Insert a blank DVD or if your old one is R/W you can use that.
Close the drive door.
Rt click the iso file for Kyhi's boot disk
Click Burn

(Burn the DVD = make the disk spin and the laser comes on to burn data into the materials embedded within the DVD)
