Would Like Opinions on PC Laptop

I have finally shelved my Macbook air and hardly use the desktop. I use my iPad Pro all of the time and if needed, I can grab the fiancé’s Galaxy Tab for Windows stuff.

The tablet is way faster than the desktop and Macbook and plus a lot lighter.

Look at what you do the most and maybe bump up the budget for a tablet with a good keyboard, now that they are becoming laptop/desktop replacements.

You can upgrade to regular home for free though. Just a little more work for you. Have done it before for a couple of clients.

Thanks, just before I went out to actually buy it, I looked around online and went by the answer from the HP Team, saying it didn't have S mode, it was the Home version. If I find that it is, I will try to disable it.

No, it is WIndows 10 Home.

Well, I have it home and it's set up. Very foreign to me to try and use a mouse like that, but if after a while if I don't get comfortable with it, I'll buy a regular mouse to use.
I haven't done too much with it yet, kind of burned out today and don't want to mess anything up.
Thanks again to everybody for your help, I really do appreciate it. I'll post again if I have any questions or difficulty with anything, and I'm sure I will.

Some considerations:

Televisions used to be HD.
Currently I'm using FHD.
Nowadays most televisions are 4K.

For the notebook consider getting the highest resolution you can afford to have the most adjustment options.


The higher end notebooks come with 180 degree mobility for the screen.
This increases the likelihood that it can be used with any arthritic condition or for any unusual angle viewing.

I've used Dell and HP.
The latest HP were custom built.

All notebooks have had problems.
The business lines came with 3 year warranty.
The HP or 3rd party technicians fix the computer within days for free (part of the warranty) (no shipping required).

Consider getting a notebook with 180 degree viewing angle.

If limited downtime is important consider notebooks with 3 year warranties.

Thanks Wynona. So far I haven't done much with the new computer because I want to see if I can put my free Norton Service from Comcast Xfinity on it, while also keeping the service active on my old desktop. I'm concerned that doing so on a second computer will cause problems on my old computer.

I read somewhere that Comcast allows you to do that for up to 5 devices, and I only have two. But, I'm cautious and want to know for sure. I posted in their support forum but so far no answers. If I have to I'll start a chat, but honestly I'd rather not have to contact any customer service, doing that in the past just seemed to be a long drawn out thing.

I haven't attempted to download Firefox yet, I want to have security first. The computer came with a free trial of McAffee I think, but you have to go to the app store to get it.....and I've been so happy with Norton service, want to stick with them on the free service.

Many on this forum use Windows Defender and it's already installed on Windows 10.

Thanks Winuser, I didn't know that. I'm older though and don't know much about computers, so if I can keep something I've become used to and like, I'd rather go that route.

I'll keep in mind about the Defender though. My concern with starting another security service is that after the 3 month trial they may cut me off or start to want to bill me. I also remember a long time ago having McAffee and having a lot of problems with it.

Windows Defender is 100% free. It runs in the background so you don't really need to do anything unless you want to run a manual scan. Microsoft also does a excellent job of keeping it updated.
