Thank you all for your help so far.

Matters have improved, but I don't think were completely there yet.

    Let's see what's happened.

    .Never changed the computer name.

I have no idea what "all partitions which were created when Windows was installed- e.g. 4 for a UEFI installation" means or its implication.

I no longer see two of me in the bottom left corner of the screen.

"Sysinternals Autologon" seems to have done the trick, but it's not consistent. I sometimes till have to log in.

I have given up trying to find "computer management console (compmgmt.msc)". Nowhere to be seen.

My user account is Admin I believe.

The system takes a very long time to get to the desktop.

The blue ouroboros is a frequent visitor to the screen.

I suggest you to create a new user and scraps the admin one after moving all data. It look like your profil is corrupted.

Try to create a new account with admin rights, go into it, after the welcome message etc.reboot the computer and go on the same account you just have create. If the desktop is showing up quickly, your admin profil is corrupted..

To be honest I would feel out of my depth doing that.

    It's not that complicated :)

tenforums have a lot of tutorials to help you. Sometimes you don't have a lot of choices to resolve an issue like this one.

Add Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10
