    How to display Chinese characters

Found some nice pix of those finger mountains in Zhangjiajie, China, and (since also slowly learning Chinese) would like to _include_ Chinese characters in their file titles, _without_ changing my default UK English input/display language. The Chinese characters display fine, no problems, but Win10 won't accept them in file naming, shows error that certain (regular kb chars, not Chinese) characters not accepted for file names. I don't remember having this problem in Win7.
--- I suspect the solution is in changing the font types(??) from TTF (as shown in Control Panel > Fonts > (eg: MingLiuHKCSRegular) > Properties) to UTF-8 (or 16 or 32, I now see) , but how ?

    Hi, welcome to tenforums.

What is your Windows build number?

I have 18362.418. I've just created a file and named it, pasting in a mix of Latin and Chinese characters. No problems there..

P.S. an interesting approach is to find some Mandopop songs with pinyin Chinese and English lyrics- quite a few are available if you search, and some songs are quite memorable and musical.

    Win 10 Pro, v1809, OS build 17763.805

(mandopop - thanks for the tip, I'll check it out, now that I have a name to search for)

Can you post the exact error message you are seeing (as text so it's searchable and members don't have to OCR it)?

A screenshot is worth a thousand....
To post a screenshot please use the Insert image icon above your post.

(Faye Wong /Faye Wang/ Fei Wong is a good starting point as a singer... or if you're using the name as a Chinese person would, Wang Faye..! - however note, like some she sings in Cantonese too..)

    How to display Chinese characters-hanzi-filename-issue.png

As you can see here, the Hanzi (Ch characters) display fine, just that Win10 won't accept them in a file name.

Can you copy and paste exactly what you are trying to name the file, here?

    FWIW - here it is..

    天门山张家界中国@Tianmenshan, Zhangjiajie, China.jpg

But as @Edwin says, please quote your exact text, best upload it as an attachment rather than pasting it in a post.
And what is the path length total- number of characters? (Including all folder names from the drive letter onwards)

    What's your current system font?

    Copy/Paste worked for me, except...

my system automatically changed this character:

    ... to this:

    How to display Chinese characters-002084.png

    Weird!
