    Folder Will Not Delete

I have a folder on my Desktop that refuses to delete. It happened after moving some of its contents to another location.Msg states its ‘No longer in D:\Desktop (which is where my Desktop resides).Although folder properties show that’s exactly where it is.Tried ‘taking ownership’ of folder and making sure it’s not set to Read-only but didn’t help.Any help appreciated.

When things like this happen to me I go to C:\Users\Account Name\AppData\Local, delete the IconCache.db file, and reboot. Usually clears it up.

Go to C:\Users\[UserName] if you have a Desktop folder there, delete the file from that folder

Emco Unlockit (free) - can delete folders and files on restart if necessary.

Note- if you boot from a live boot disk or to a command prompt outside Windows (Windows not running) - you can delete anything.

Thanks for all the great feedback guys, but alas none of this has enabled me to delete or even move the folder lol.
The only suggestion not yet tried is booting from a 'live disk'. Can someone plz outline how to do this?
    Any further ideas most welcome.

Google live boot disk and you will find some results. Examples
    Hiren's BootCD PE
    Toolkit Item: Kyhi’s Rescue Disk – Win10.Guru

Aslo if you boot to a command prompt outside Windows (e.g. via SHIFT + left click Restart and work thru the prompts - tutorial available) then again, as wiht a live boot disk, you are not constrained by permissions etc.

    Did you try Emco unlockit?

    - then you browse to your folder, select it, option to delete on restart. Again, no permissions apply.

Hi and many thanks for fast reply. Yes I tried Emco. Also a couple of other apps as suggested. Although far from being competent, I'll try the command prompt method...
